Meet Deanna!I'm Deanna Wilbourn, a 19 year old first year at UVa. I was diagnosed with scoliosis in 2017 (7th grade). This diagnosis was a crucial turning point in my life as from then on, I wore a back brace 20 hours a day for 5 years! |
What is Scoliosis?
Scoliosis is a spine condition where the spine becomes rotated and curved. The causes of this condition are unknown, but what doctors do know is that it normally happens during the intense growth spurt before puberty. Scoliosis is normally diagnosed among young teenage girls (6th-8th grade), but it is growing more prevalent among other age groups and males.
